PEERS® for Teens
Social Skills Program
What is the Peers® program?
PEERS® for Teens is an evidence-based social skills program for teens motivated to learn new social skills. It is used in over 35 countries, and is conducted by PEERS® trained psychologists.
With group sizes of 6 to 8 teens, 8 sessions (of 90 minutes duration) are held weekly during the school term.
PEERS® for Teens is suitable for teens aged 13 to 18 and is appropriate for teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression or other social and behavioral disorders.
TEENS WILL LEARN IN SMALL GROUPS
- Conversational skills
- Appropriate use of humor
- Electronic communication
- Hosting get-togethers
- Handling arguments and dis-agreements
- Skills to handle rumours, teasing and bullying.
The PEERS® program is open to all applicants, however, the program can facilitate NDIS participants capacity building in areas of: Social and Community Participation, Improved Relationships and Improved Daily Living Skills.
NDIS Clients need to be either self-managed or plan managed. Costs can be claimed under your NDIS plan depending on your funding and goals.
